Labor Day in Logan

We spent our Labor Day weekend in Logan with the Robbins family. It's always relaxing and fun there. 

They also had some friends come for a little bit while we were there, Anson and Ashleigh. 

It was the Wellsville town celebration over Labor Day, called Founders Day. We were lucky enough to be able to check it out with Jen and her family! 

We first went to the Wellsville rodeo. Very little, but very fun! The kids loved it especially.

Ashleigh brought some oreos. This is so typical Gracie. You'd think the oreo is a simple enough cookie to eat and not make a mess? Think again....(they were the Halloween kind so the frosting was orange)...

Sunday we went to church with the Robbins and met their new nice ward. We came home and ate dinner. Jenny got the idea of making a birthday cake for dessert for Lucy, Grace and Jared whose birthdays are all within a month of each other.  We whipped up a chocolate cake and it was delicious! Grace was SO excited to blow out the candles and was pretty convinced it was  her birthday the rest of the day.

That evening my parents and sister Melinda and her kids came. 

My nephew Brendan brought a little ukelele with him which everyone had to try out, even Lucy. Everyone loved how it was just her size...

That night we played a big game of hide and seek in the dark before heading to bead.

The next morning we all were awaken by an exploding cannon at 5 am. No joke. It's part of Founders Day tradition...they drive around with a cannon behind a truck and shoot it off in all of the neighborhoods of Wellsville. Fun tradition, let me tell you :) 

We left a little after 6 for the Founders day fun run. 

Me, Jared, Jenny and my Mom ran the 5k and Melinda and Brendan ran the 10k. It was really fun! Jared was ahead of me the whole time, but I caught him at the end. We crossed the finish line together at 26 minutes. Here's the group after going home to shower...apparently I was pretty tired after the race, my eyes look sleepy :) 

We all ate at the Wellsville fireman's breakfast, then walked around the booths and carnival games. The kids played on a big jump house for a while...

Then they rode this clown ride that took them up and down. They lovvvvvved it, it was pretty darling watching them laugh their heads off together! :) The man running the ride kept telling them what to do with their hands. This one he said to wave their arms up:

All this fun was followed by a really fun parade! Jenny's older kids left so that they could get on their ward's float and the rest of us had a spot on the road that Jenny had saved on Thursday night! (the parade was Monday morning...) She said the whole town saves spots or else you don't see the parade.

It was a really fun parade and the kids got SO much candy. Probably the most I've ever seen given at a parade. Here are the happy parade goers:

Grace and Ruby loved all the "princess" floats.

Grace wasn't into the candy as much as her parents wanted her to be (so that we could sneak some too!). She'd get one piece of candy, go sit by Grandma and eat it. She didn't worry about getting a collection of candy, just one at a time.

Not long after the parade we headed to the Robbins for some quick lunch then headed back to Burley. We had such a fun time in Logan and can't wait to go back again. Grace loves spending time with her cousins. We decided that Founders day at the Robbins house might have to be a tradition! :)
