parade lover
Last weekend was a big event in Gracie's life: her first parade. We have the two extremes in my family: parade lovers and parade haters. I've been nervous to see which genetics Gracie inherited, but I have a feeling that she loved it....except for the fire trucks. (which is my least favorite part of parades too! Why do they think it's fun to be so obnoxious?) Here's the gang at the Lehi parade, with my mom taking the picture:
Right after the parade, we headed over to the Lehi legacy center swimming pool. We loved it! It's half indoor, half outdoor and had lots of stuff for little kids to do, or in Gracie's case, to watch. She loves swimming so much. This was taken after she had stayed awake for the parade and swimming. She totally crashed after sitting in Jared's lap for about 10 seconds:
Later that day we went to the Davis family reunion, on my Mom's side of the family. It was fun seeing cousins and relatives I hadn't seen in years. Here is a four generation picture, Jenny, Ruby, my Mom Laurie, my Grandma Dell (who Grace Della is named after),Gracie and me:
We also had a family barbecue on Sunday with my aunts and Grandma, as well as a birthday party for my Dad. One of my aunts had sent the baby girls matching dresses, so we had to take a picture, of course:

I started out as a parade lover(-ish) and now I am totally a parade HATER! What's up with that? I agree about the firetrucks though. They just blare their horns loud enough to make a grown man wanna cry (so maybe I hate parades cause a firetruck made me cry once, who cares?)
its hot, usually too early, & your butt hurts from sitting on a curb. and its all about the beautiful people & society & you're just one of those that didn't make the cut...sittin' on the curb. if you're not IN the parade, why bother? maybe i was IN too many parades & don't know how to WATCH them. maybe it was trying to stay in drillteam formation after the horses...
I'm a hater. I was so excited for parades in DC, and after watching for a while I remembered that they are still parades. I haven't seen one in several years and I don't feel like anything is missing in my life.
I must speak up for the parade lovers of the world. Abby, Gracie, Jenny, Crew, Avery, Brady and I had such a fun exciting time at the Lehi Roundup parade. Lots of beautiful floats, musical bands, (LOVED the bagpipes of Payson High School) horses, wagons, cars, clowns, dancing groups and even the noisy firetrucks kept us entertained. The loads of free candy and other items given out were an added bonus. It is a great sampling of human nature and interest. Hooray for parades! Sorry Elliot and Melinda that you didn't get the gene.
love, Mom
