Day ONE:
We got to Jenny and Spencer's cabin at Bear Lake on Thursday night.
It was our night for dinner and an activity, so we brought frozen pizzas and played Balderdash.
We also were in charge of a craft for the kids. Jared remembered making bug catchers when he was little at a reunion, so he wanted to make some for the kids. They ended up being so cute! He made little wooden catchers that the kids painted and then we put a net on with thumbtacks....
They couldn't wait to find some bugs!
Day TWO:
We started the day with Lucy falling down the wooden hard cabin stairs. Not just a few stairs, the whole way. Poor girl....she had a huge bruise across the bridge of her nose we thought for sure she broke it. She cried for about 5 minutes then was back to her happy self.
We got ready to go to the beach...the kids couldn't wait! Jenny and Spencer had a pass to a private beach, it was so nice. When we were setting up, Jenny had a giant beach umbrella she was trying to open. It had a big metal joint that sliced/squished her finger....it was bad. She was crying and in so much pain so my Dad and I ran her to the urgent care clinic a few miles away. She ended up getting 5 stitches! Yikes! Rough start to our fun day at the beach. We thought maybe we all better go home and go to bed :) We ended up having a good day...here we are giving "thumbs up" because of Jenny's poor thumb!
Grace and Lucy loved the beach!
My parents also brought their little raft that the kids loved getting rides in....
Gracie loved having unlimited oreos on her trip to Bear Lake....
Jared brought a couple of his dad's 4 wheelers, my Dad brought his and Jen and Spence brought theirs, so there were always 4 wheeler rides happening on the trails around the cabin.
My Mom thought of a fun thing for us to do...every night we'd gather around for Story Time. She'd draw some names out of a hat of family members to tell a story from their life. Even the little kids got a turn to tell stories of things they'd done or something that happened to them. It was so fun! I loved learning more about my family.....
Scott telling his story...
Melinda and kids listening to stories...
Two evenings in a row we played the FUNNEST game called Telestrations. We were all laughing so hard we were crying. I need to get that game....
Day THREE:
We woke up and got ready to go for a hike up to Bloomington Lake (I think that's what it's called?).
It was a fun little hike that all the kids could do and was so BEAUTIFUL!
The mischievous two year olds hiking in their skirts. We called them the hiking divas.
Lucy loved the fresh air in her baby bjorn...
We couldn't believe that there was snow up there! The water in all 3 lakes was snow melt and freezing cold...but it was clear and emerald colored. So beautiful!
Grace loved to "walk by herself". She actually did a pretty good job. She fell down once, stood up and said, "Mom, I'm going to cry!" But then she never did :)
It was the perfect day for hiking. A nice cool breeze kept us going.
We took pictures of all the families at the top lake...
Melinda and kids Brendan and Rhiannon
the Jones fam...
the Robbins fam...
the McMillan fam...
The whole hiking crew! (We wished Elliot, Kristin, Lia and Jonas were there though! They would have loved it!)
On the way back Grace got a little bit tired. She loved riding on Jared's shoulders and saying "hi" to all the passing hikers.
We went home after the hike and took naps. Then after some 4 wheeler rides we went down the hill to the new go-cart place for some rides. The kids LOVED it! They had 2 seaters for the little kids. Grace kept yelling "woo-hoo! faster!" :)
That night mom put a game together for the kids...she put little gummy bugs under a pile of whipped cream that they had to retrieve with no hands. They loved getting their faces all messy. They were laughing so hard, it was so cute.
The next morning (Sunday) we woke up, cleaned the cabin and took off for Burley. We had such a fun, relaxing weekend with everyone. The kids love their cousins and could play with them all day every day I think.
Thanks to the family for making it so fun! Until next year....
