{anniversary celebration & father's day}

Our 5 year anniversary is this Wednesday...I can't believe it. 5 years just goes so quickly. We decided to celebrate it this last weekend by going up to Sun Valley to bike on the trails up there. It's one of our favorite places, we've biked there before and knew we would love it again, which we did.
My mom watched the girls in the morning, Jared's parents watched them in the afternoon. It was so nice to be up there with just Jared and biking without the big trailer trailing behind us :) Thanks to our parents!!
Here we are Saturday morning, about to take off on our biking adventure:
We parked at the Sun Valley lodge where the bike trail we like starts. We hopped on the trail and realized it was pretty cold. We stopped at a gift shop in downtown Sun Valley and got Jared a long sleeved shirt, since he left his jacket in the car. We kept going down the hill toward the river and came upon this little house made of sticks and branches! It was so amazing! I expected a hobbit to walk out any second :) I told Jared we should build a house like this.
They have trails that go on forever. They are so smooth and nice, unlike what I've been used to biking on. It was soooo fun! We sped down to Hailey in no time, then turned around and rode back which was a little harder with the gradual incline. It ended up being about a 30 mile ride.
It was gorgeous and green everywhere and the river was beautiful. We stopped on an old wooden bridge to snap a few pictures. (we were pretty sweaty and tired by this point....)
We love our new bikes!!
I loved just riding along beside Jared and talking the whole ride. The whole ride we talked about how we wished we lived next to bike trails, because we'd use them every day.
At one point we were going down one of the only hills on the ride and I glanced down for just a split second to see how fast I was going on my odometer. At that second the trail turned and I went off the road. If it had been downhill where I ran off I would have been a goner. I was going about 25 mph and luckily went off the trail onto a hill. I got control of my bike while Jared was screaming, "ABBY! ABBY! ABBY!...." and made it back onto the trail without wiping out! LUCKY! After that Jared said, "Was that a test? After five years of marriage you wanted to see how I reacted to the sight of you getting in a horrible bike wreck?" :) It was scary, and I was grateful to have a helmet on, just in case. Right when I went off the trail another biker passed me going the other way. Jared said, ''the good news is, we'll never see HER again! That was kind of embarrassing!" It was....Jared was screaming, and I looked like I didn't know what in the heck I was doing!

We made it back to the lodge and walked around for a while. Then we headed to the best thrift store we've ever been to. It's called the Gold Mine in Ketchum. Tons of amazing stuff that rich granola's don't need anymore :) we  loved it.

We drove to Twin and did a little shopping, ate at 5 guys and headed home to our girls who we missed. We had such an amazing day and decided to go to Sun Valley every year for our anniversary. Free, beautiful, and romantic. I am so grateful to have Jared. He is my perfect match in every way. He brings so much peace to my life and I am so glad I get him forever. We were talking about what we thought the next 5 years would bring, and I couldn't help but be excited. I love our life!

Father's Day!
I was so tired from Sun Valley the day before that I slept through Lucy crying in the night. Jared got up with her. Not the best way to ring in Father's Day. Sorry Jared.

Gracie helped open the present she got for him. She kept saying, "Happy Mother's Day Daddy!" and said it to her Grandpa's a few times too...she was confused, but so excited for Jared!
He's the best Daddy....he loves his girls more than anything and shows them every day. He plays with them nonstop when he's home and is constantly hugging and kissing them. They adore their dad and so do I
In order to get the picture above, we had a few outtakes...Gracie is obsessed with THIS video. She quotes it all day long. She sticks her finger in Lucy's mouth and says, "Charlie! That really hurt!" :)
We probably took 50 pictures before getting ONE with both girls looking forward normally. Sheesh....
Jared got to sing in Sacrament meeting with one other guy for Father's Day. They sang "I am a child of God" acapella, and did a wonderful job.
Both of our Dads love cherry pies. We both grew up with cherry pie on Father's day. We made them last year for our dads and realized how much work it is. I did it again this year and things went much more smoothly. I had to take a picture of them, because after working on them for a few hours I kind of grew attached to these pies. I was kind of sad to give them away. Luckily, they went to good homes. :)
We got to have a fun cook-out with the extended Jones family yesterday which is always fun, then headed to my parent's house for a nice relaxing visit. We love our dads. Living in Burley has been so much fun. We get to see each of them at least once a week and they teach us so much. They both are such sweet Grandpa's too. It melts my heart!

ok. I laughed out loud TWO times while reading this post! First at your "almost bike wreck" picturing what the lady on the bike must have seen from the two of you! haha(glad you're ok, by the way) and Second: at that "charlie bit my finger video"! haha! Where on earth did you find that one?! Hilarious! :) Still laughing...

Your bike wreck story cracks me up. Here you are on your fancy bike and the lady probably thought you didn't know how to ride a bike. Maybe she thought you were one of those rich granolas who bought a nice bike and she's hoping it ends up at the Gold Mine soon!

I actually remember going to the Gold Mine as a little kid when we'd go to my aunt & uncle's condo. It's left a lasting impression on me!

Delicious pie!! Dad said it was the best he ever had. You better give me a lesson, or better yet, just plan on being the family pie maker from now on. We agree also that you are very blessed to have Jared. He is a wonderful dad and husband for our baby girl.
