happy birthday to my mama.

Last Friday, around 4:00...
My Mom walks into her house, I'm there waiting for her. She thinks she is babysitting my kids while Jared and I go to the temple.
She had another thing comin'...
My Mom: "Abby, you can't go to the temple dressed like that!" (jeans, t-shirt)
Me: "That's funny, because I'm not GOING to the temple! I'm kidnapping you for the weekend...here is your list of things to pack, you have ten minutes, starting now."
She scrambled around the house, packed her things, and she, Lucy and I were off to Logan snacking on fig newtons, black licorice and almonds (her favorite snacks) for a fun-filled birthday extravaganza weekend.
My Mom had a big birthday last week, so we had to celebrate big...

We met up with Jenny at a really fun restaurant next to the Marriott in Logan (where we stayed), called Elements. SO yummy.
I'm not normally one to take pictures of food, but our dessert was so pretty.
Jen was ready to dive in.
Jenny made the cutest little gifts for my Mom to open throughout the weekend. Each gift coordinated with what event we had planned next.
The next morning Jen and Mom went to the temple, then we got on our suits for a dip in the hotel pool.
They helped me with my front crawl in preparation for the spudman then we soaked in the hot tub for a while.
It's always nice starting your day with a good soak...and my Mom lovvvves swimming.
We got ready, then headed out for lunch. We hit Chik-fil-a on our way to the mall, and who did we see? Jared's parents who had Gracie with them! I knew they were in town picking up furniture and had brought Gracie with them so Jared could get some things done (so nice), but what are the odds we'd pick the same restaurant for lunch? It was so funny. Gracie didn't even blink when she saw me.  She just said, "hey mom," and kept pushing Kristi's wheelchair into Chik-fil-a. :)

We walked around the mall, shopped, then got pedicures. My Mom had never had one! She was a natural. :) The massage chairs were so relaxing...
...and our toes looked so cute!
We went to a wonderful Thai restaurant for dinner, then planned on going to a Mozart flute concert on Utah State campus. We showed up there and Jenny said, "we're here for the flute concert..." The ladies at the desk asked, "you mean The Magic Flute opera?"  We laughed, and to the opera we went! Lucy was a trooper through it all, just watched the opera singers and cuddled with mama.

We had such a fun time together and only wish all the girls in the family could have been there! Someday.
We decided to make it a yearly "girl's-weekend" tradition. Happy Birthday Mom! Love you!

Thanks again. It was heavenly! You two are so thoughtful, and we will have to try it again sometime with all the women of the family.

Way to go, you sneaky little sneak. You can kidnap me and take me to Logan for my birthday. It's in just about a month... ;-)

Chris and I ate at Elements a few years ago for our anniversary. Mmmm. And I'm guessing you went to Kamin, since it's the only Thai in Logan. Double mmm. No more hanging out in Logan-- you make me miss it!

My sisters and I had our yearly spring weekend in Logan. I heartily endorse it. You just needed some ice cream from Caspers or Aggie Ice cream (or both) to make it a perfect weekend.
