This is how it all went down last Friday:(Jared walks in the door from going to retrieve our laundry from the laundromat).
Jared: Uhhh....there's about an 80 percent chance we don't have any more clothes.
Abby: (nonchalantly) What?
Jared: There's a fire in the laundromat. I couldn't get our clothes because they are all burned.
Abby: (a little more panic, but smiling because she thinks Jared is kidding) Shut up!
Jared: I'm not even kidding a little bit.
(Abby runs to the window as if to see a plume of smoke coming from the direction of the laundromat)
Abby: ARE YOU SURE?!
Jared: I went to get our clothes (in the car) and the road is blocked by 3 firetrucks, 2 ambulances, 3 cop cars and people running around the laundromat frantically.
Perfect.
By this time I figure he is telling the truth and the realization hits we might not have any clothes. We hadn't done laundry since Christmas. LOTS of our clothes were in that laundromat.
Jared decided to walk down to the laundromat and see if he could get through that way. He ended up finding out that it WAS in fact our dryer that caused the fire. Only one dryer caught on fire though, not the entire place. And, luckily, it was just our dryer containing colors, our whites were fine. There were news crews there filming Jared rummaging through the melted clothes and people questioning him. BIG ordeal :)
Mainly what perished in the fire were my work scrubs, Jared's t-shirt collection, sweats, some jeans, quite a few baby clothes (but not very many of the baby clothes we borrowed, luckily!), etc. We think we will be reimbursed for our stuff too, and in the meantime we'll be just fine. Our initial thought was to panic and wonder what we're going to do, but then we just had to laugh. Who has clothes burn in a fire-y laundry fire?! Nobody! It's a story we'll be telling the grandchildren for sure. :)

abby... i seriously could not believe this when i found out. i'mglad you guys can laugh about it now.. i would probably still be freakikg out. what are the odds of a dryer catching on fire and it being yours. hope everything gets settled alright. and hope you guys are doing great. i'm trying to plan a trip to the ogden house so we can get together i'll let you know. take care

Hey...better than what happened to Cutlers today. I'm still not sure what happened. There were paramedics, a fire truck, and BYU EMTs. I was hoping it wasn't Natalie, but I think it was. Scary...
Oh my gosh. Today I was sitting in the newsroom next to the reporter doing this week's police beat for the Daily Universe. I could hardly believe the story! Now I'm sad to find out it was you. I'm sorry.

Correction: Just found out it wasn't Cutlers, but the Blair's. Their little boy had a seizure. He's ok now, though.
You have to laugh about it- there's nothing else you can do.... I too hope that you get reimbursed... what are the odds! LOL :)
ya know, that's what i love about apartment living: If it was your own dryer in your own home- you would probably not only be out clothes, but a dryer and possibly more! hope you can get some sweet clothes with your reimbursement

I still can't believe the dryer caught on fire! I guess it is a good thing Jared buys all of this clothes at thrift stores.... which means more money on clothes for you and Grace!!! =)
That is a crazy story! At least you guys have some clean undies though :) I hope they do reimburse you, that would be fun to go shopping for new stuff!

That is the funniest story ever! I am really sorry about your cloths though but if you get reimbursed, then sweet new cloths! But what a funny story, and totally crazy too!
I thought that only happened in the movies. That is kind of a funny story, but I'm sorry you lost your cloths.
